International Trade Compliance Manager
Location: Houston, Texas
Job Description:
Position will manage all aspects of North American import and export
processes and transactions to insure optimum value while insuring
compliance with all U.S. import laws and export regulations.
Activities include:
·
Accurate classification for finished goods, raw materials and
equipment under the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Export
Control Classification Number systems
·
Collection and maintenance of data and certifications necessary from
suppliers, business management, finance and manufacturing for NAFTA
qualification
·
Completion of country of origin determinations and NAFTA
qualifications
·
Issuance of letters and NAFTA certificates to Customers
·
Interactions with U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on
matters involving compliant and expeditious entry of goods into the
U.S.
·
Delivery of import, export and trade preference program training
across the enterprise
·
Providing information and issue resolution support to business for
efficient, compliant transactions and business decisions
·
Management of data flows, services and relationships with service
providers – brokers, freight forwarders and carriers to insure
integrity of processes, data and transactions
·
Facilitation of compliant customs entries through audit of data and
documentation for accuracy
·
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current regulatory requirements
sufficient to provide analysis of impact on business activities
·
Maintain all documents and data in accordance with U.S. government
and Ascend Performance Materials policies and requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
·
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or
International Trade
·
Minimum 3 – 5 years work experience in international trade,
preferably in both importing and exporting
·
Must have a working knowledge of CBP, Bureau of Industry and
Security (BIS), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) and other
government agency rules and regulations
·
Knowledge of NAFTA and other trade preference programs
·
Good organization and prioritization skills, strong analytical and
problem solving capabilities
·
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
·
Follow through to completion and attention to detail are required
skills
·
U.S. Customs Broker’s License a plus
