Safety Engineer/Manager IL
LOCATION: West of Chicago, IL

DESCRIPTION:
·
Guiding and promoting safe work performance by developing safety
systems, policies, and procedures.
·
Developing, implementing, and maintaining all required safety
training programs.
·
Contributing to the plant safety projects and related activities.
·
Enforcing safety policies by conducting audits, reporting
statistics.
·
Complying with Federal, State and Local safety regulations by
studying existing enforcing adherence to regulations and advising
management on needed actions.
·
Coordinating various phases of the Safety Program in the plant and
assisting in the development of programs for the continued reduction
of accidents and hazards.
·
Conducting inspections of production equipment, machinery and
operations for possible unsafe conditions, violations of safe
practices, and health hazards.
·
Investigating reported unsafe conditions and recommending corrective
action.
·
Analyzing accidents and preparing reports reflecting such
information as the cause of the accident and recommended corrective
action.
·
Coordinating the Site Emergency Response Organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
·
Bachelor degree required; EH&S concentration is highly preferred.
·
VPP experience a plus.
·
Minimum five years experience in a chemical plant or manufacturing
environment in a safety-oriented role highly preferred.
·
Must be knowledgeable of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM)
·
Must be familiar with Federal, State, and Local safety regulations
and be committed to staying abreast of regulation changes.
·
Proficient computer skills required in Microsoft Office products.
SAP usage preferred. Ability and willingness to learn new software
as related to the Safety Engineer position.
·
Emergency Response and Fire Training/Fire Safety experience
necessary.
·
Experience in Security responsibilities is also desired.
